Schools participating in the Action Civics Initiative agree to the following, over a two-year period:
- Participate in Saturday PD sessions (4) and evaluation efforts
- Receive face-to-face and virtual coaching from SCOE specialists
- Build/reinforce knowledge and shift practice around:
- Student-centered programming and strategies
- Social Justice/Youth Development
- Spectrum of student engagement opportunities
- Six Proven Practices in Civic Learning
- Participate in Summer Action Civics Institute (July 2015)
- Create an intentional shift to student-centered strategies around civic engagement
- Engage in student-identified, -researched, and -designed projects
- Provide students with cross curricular support from Action Civics teachers
- Participate in a Summer Showcase of student projects (May 2016)
